Finding Instagram Hashtags

For many businesses, creators and most other people on Instagram the aim is to get more people to view your photo. The photo might be promoting something you're selling or a service you provide. The more views the more chance you have of grabbing a potential new customer.

We could talk about all the different ways to help improve your visibility but today it's all Finding Instagram Hashtags. You could just go for the spam technique but that is going to do so much worse than good. It you were starting out on Instagram you'd use what you'd think would work, the common ones. Let me quickly dive into those common ones.

#Love - This currently has 1.8B photos tagged at a rate of 204 per minute.

#Heart - 42.8M, at a rate of 273 per minute.

#Sky - 217.6M with 128 per minute.

#Clouds - 108.1M, and 184 per minute.

What this shows is that using any of these hashtags is pointless, the feed for those will fly past so quickly that it will never get seen.

The idea is to find hashtags that are more unique, making the tag slightly longer, possibly adding a location so #SussexSky for an example has 534 posts. That is possibly way too low. The trick is to find a hashtag that has around 250,000 photos tagged with it, too low and no one is searching for it and too high and you don't get seen.

At the moment are you thinking Finding Instagram Hashtags is a whole job in itself? The solution is an amazing website called - #MetaHashtags.

MetaHashtags

MetaHashtags

This site is exactly what is needed, in the search bar you pop in your hashtags or keywords and it gives you a list of suggestions. Making it really clear how many photos are assigned to each one. It's then up to you to pick which ones you'd like to use, a tick of the box adds them to your list and then you can copy and use in your caption.

It's as easy as it sounds, I will add a few hashtag tips

  • Pick hashtags with between 10,000 -> 250,000 photos

  • Don't use the same hashtags over and over

  • Make sure the hashtags are relevant to the photo

  • Don't use more than 30

  • Don't use any words which might be banned

Using these tips along with MetaHashtags will hopefully bring more views to your photos and profile. It's important to remember this is just one part of Instagram, making sure your content is good is still the most important thing.
